ACT 1 is DYLAN CLOUD

Dylan Cloud dropped a single. “Straight On” is a genre-bridging track. It inherited some fuzz from funk. Some of its edges got sharpened, then scraped jagged, from stripped-back punk. He threw some wit into it that he stole from the garages of rock duos with cheap cleverness. Then he glued it together with some get-up-and-groove from reggae. Over the top he poured some noise from his metal side. Then, because I don’t think that a rock and roll musician can escape Robert Johnson (and Dylan leaned into it on purpose), “Straight On” has more’n a little mud and dust from the delta blues mussing it around the edges.

Taken altogether, “Straight On” is the kind of track that, if you wanted to, you could use it as a history lesson, and learn something about what rock and roll is, if you can figure out what rock and roll is, which I haven’t yet.

At the same time, like all the best tracks like that, you can forget about the analysis and just bop along to it without thinking about anything at all.

Act 3 is LIAM CLOUD

LIAM

On Vocals and Guitar is Liam Cloud, co-founder of Front Page News, and a singer-songwriter who plays all over Spain as Guitarist to Ruth Lorenzo, but also as a Guitarist and Singer Songwriter who recently released Blink. A Live Session EP is releasing later this year.  

From a listener’s perspective, Liam’s songs have memorable lyrics full of intrigue and elicit the eternal question: “I wonder who that’s about?” Although he is known for his smooth falsetto, his vocal range is wide and powerful, switching effortlessly from a sort of soft spoken verse, to dramatic highs. 

He is a generous artist and graciously shares the spotlight whenever onstage or in the studio co-creating and collaborating with other musicians almost every day. Liam will be releasing an album later on this year. He has this fantasy of inserting guitar solos into everything, which he did for Ruth Lorenzo's Miedo. He has some beautiful new originals never heard before. Don't miss it, come early.

BRYAN CURTIS

Bryan is literally the first musician we ever booked in the beginning of Front Page News. We booked him as Resident Drummer, and he was one of the artists we are perpetually grateful for.  He has helped shape our most recent evolution as an events entity and we have really loved watching him just getting insanely better and better at this percussion thing.

Bryan Curtis on drums is hardly an unfamiliar character in the local scene. KAKU

He is amazing. Kaku plays bass for Titan James Music and will wield the keyboard for Act 3 this evening with Liam Cloud. He is a multi-instrumentalist session musician who possesses a higher than usual degree of professional experience. While in Argentina, Kaku won a contest for a pop song he wrote and performed with his musical partner. Their song became a  hit all at once, and it got a lot of play on the radio in Argentina. It  threw them into the Scene, and they were hobnobbing with the social  elite at big parties in Buenos Aires. Kaku had a big hit and a career as a  pop star in Argentina. But here he is tonight, don't miss his earlier set with Titan.

Jeff Santana got in touch with music very early when he started taking guitar lessons with his uncle at the age of 8, but the passion for music came at age 14, when he won a guitar from his mother and began to play at the church. At age 20 he began to play professionally at parties in his town where he played guitar, bass and sang. In Brazil, he had a rock band with original songs, made several studio recordings and pre-productions for artists of different genres. For 3 years he dedicated himself to perfecting his knowledge of the bass and then awakened his passion for the groove. Today he mixes his musical activities between bass, guitar and singing.
